Winter White Decor

Jan 2015
I’ll be the first to admit that I am a big fan of color, but at this moment, I am finding winter white decor calling my name. The snow is falling outside, the roads are slippery and it’s weekend nesting time. The fireplace with a good book sounds like the weekend activity.  In the dead of January, the lack of color is soothing and cozy-certainly not lacking in subtle variation, and really anything but neutral for your home decor.

The tactile nature of mixing different knits whispers snuggle up and get cozy!  I’m sure a crackling fire is right around the corner from this nook.

One day I will stay at Peacock Pavilions, just outside Marrakesh.  The boutique hotel of Maryam Montague seamlessly blends old and new.  Above, the Sufi Scribe suite incorporates traditional techniques with modern design for an aesthetic of white and wonderful.  Until you get to Morocco, you can find treasures in Maryam’s online boutique The Red Thread Souk.

Casachaucha combines neutrals and winter whites for a comfortable living room  corner. Natural linens and cottons are an eco friendly choice and are now being used by many furniture manufacturers.

The popular sfgirlbythebay features many spaces with neutrals. I am loving the palate of the additional grey and coffee colors with this. {photo via stadshem}

Accents are perhaps the easiest way to bring in winter white.  These pieces will hold their own throughout the year, bringing light to the darkest of winter days and freshening up your space.
