5 Reasons to Love My Weekend View

Dec 2011

This weekend was a delight for all lovers of local and handmade {am I sounding like a broken record yet?}  So many shows, so little time! Santa was very busy crossing gifts off her list.

  1. After last winter’s record snowfall, it is a pleasure to still have walkable temperatures and awesome color in my garden.
  2. Twelve Chairs has such a well edited collection of environmentally friendly home decor.  Their opening for collage artist Jody Morlock was a delight to attend and I would be hardpressed to choose which piece of hers I loved best! Installation artist Christine Watka has created a magnificent leaf piece {shown above} in their entry featuring all natural materials.
  3. Living in a city with so many renowned colleges and universities has some major perks. Isn’t it hard to believe that Harvard is celebrating it’s 365th anniversary-amazing huh! This weekend’s Ceramics Program Holiday Sale featured some remarkable pieces such as these by Stephanie Young.
  4. As if you couldn’t tell, handmade and local was definitely the theme of the weekend. I love the outpouring of support in our community.  Sowa’s Holiday show was jam packed with great products. Handmade soap from Dr.Dandelion and jewelry and perfume bottles from Wendy Baker Design stood out as great gift items. When we left, the entry line was around the block!
  5. Finally, my weekend view finished up with a feast for the eyes and taste buds at the Eat Boutique Holiday Show.  Celebrating pure and sustainable, the vendors featured the best of what supporting local and handmade is all about.  There were plenty of sweet and savory treats for parties and presents!  {and an abundance of samples}

Hope your weekend was just as fabulous!
